Young Democrats and Young Republicans

These organizations raised and forwarded$1,455 to the Hurricane Katrina Relief Fund.  They also sponsor voter registration each spring on the PHS campus where they average registering more than 100 students each year.

 

FFA

Students of the PHS FFA Club hold two WV State offices: Amy Moyers is Vice President and Casey Seese is Secretary.  In 2005, this organization won the state Horse Judging Contest, placed 4th in the state Livestock Judging, placed 4th in the state Envirothon competition, and had 7 State FFA Degrees awarded.  Individually, Chris Forman scored highest in the state in Livestock Judging, Brandon Whetsell won the State Creed Contest and Amy Moyers won the State Proficiency Award in Agri-Business.

 

Band/Choir   

In 2005, the Marching Knights Band was an Atlantic Coastal Champion Qualifier and was ranked 23rd in the Atlantic Coastal States.  They received awards for Best Drum Major and Best Percussion.  The band had 6 members participate in the All-State Band and 13 students in the WVU Honor Band.  The band also had 3 Solo Championship winners at the state level.

 

The Choir had 12 All-State Choir participants.  The Choir also had its first All-State Chamber Choir member selected.
