FMW Composite Systems Receives Preliminary Loan Approval for Northpointe Shell Building

FMW Composites is expanding to the shell building at the Northpointe Business & Industry Park, creating up to 78 jobs in the next three years.  The Governor's office announced June 16 that FMW Inc. has obtained preliminary approval for a $1,560,150 West Virginia Economic Development Authority loan.

The Hazelton location will produce titanium matrix composites, which uses "silicon carbide fiber in a titanium matrix to match the strength and stiffness of steel at half the weight."  The product is used in aerospace parts.

GNH Trucking to Locate at Northpointe Business & Industry Park

GNH Trucking plans to open a $2 million facility in the Northpointe Business & Industry Park.  The company will construct a 12,000 sq. ft. building on 12.1 acres in the Park, creating 75 jobs.  GNH Trucking, a family-owned company headquartered in Farmington, PA, has been transporting commodities with the Interstate Commerce Commission authorities in 48 states for nearly 30 years.  The company currently provides services for Gabriel Brothers, Kingsford Charcoal, Lignetics, Chemtura Corporation, Dick's Sporting Goods and Clorox, as well as other companies in the region.

 

Computers Purchased by Preston County EDA

The Preston County EDA recently purchased 12 laptop computers for small business training.  The Tucker County Community Endowment Foundation awarded a $5,000 grant to the EDA for the project and the EDA matched the funds.  The PCEDA plans to use the computers to provide training to small businesses in the community to help make their businesses more competitive.

Senator Jon Hunter has obtained a $20,000 state grant for the Preston County Economic Development Authority to help with site development for a project at the Northpointe Business & Industry Park near Hazelton.

Microtel Inn & Suites to Break Ground in Hazelton

Jenkins Holdings, LLC, owned by Mike and Pam Jenkins of Albright, West Virginia, will break ground on a Microtel Inn & Suites hotel later this month in Hazelton.  The hotel, scheduled to open in late summer 2006 - is located at Pointe Plaza on Casteel Road off Interstate 68 at Exit 29, and will be the first chain hotel to open in Preston County.

The three-story, 50-room Microtel will offer single, double and suite accommodations, all with queen beds.  Amenities will include free local and free long distance phone calls anywhere in the continental US; free high speed wireless Internet access in all guestrooms; phones with data ports and voice mail; expanded cable television with CNN, HBO and ESPN, and complimentary continental breakfast.

The new hotel is across from the USP-Hazelton Federal Prison - which attracts visitors in need of lodging from around the region and Washington, DC and near the Northpointe Business & Industry Park.
