Description
Travel to Rowlesburg, WV on October 13th to attend the 16th Annual West Virginia Chestnut Festival, a full day celebration of the American Chestnut Tree and the Science of Restoration.
9:00 am - 11:00 am enjoy a full breakfast at the River City Cafe in the Szilagyi Center (donation requested)
9:30 am - 4:00 pm head to the park for roasted chestnuts, chestnut tree seedlings for sale, honey products, chestnut furniture for sale, art and craft vendors, ox-roast sandwiches and the Avian Conservation Center of Appalachia Bird Exhibit. Cannon Hill Historic Site will be open for self-guided tours.
Visit the Szilagyi Center World War II museum, Preston County Sports museum, B&O Centenary Bridge Exhibit and art studios.
12:00 pm-2:00pm the meeting of the WV Chapter of the American Chestnut Foundation will be in the Szilagyi center. The public is welcome. 3:00pm to 4:30 pm will be the Chestnut Technical Session.
5:30 pm - 7:30 pm is the Gala Banquet. Tickets are available at the door before the banquet.
The Speaker will be Mark Double, Festival Scientific Chair with an Update on WV Chapter's Chestnut Plantings.
