June 20, 2025
A new collaborative aims to connect recent graduates with businesses and industry in West Virginia in an effort to retain young workers in the state and ultimately benefit the economy by building connections that support the workforce.
The West Virginia Career Collaborative is a regional initiative aimed at aligning education systems with workforce needs in North Central West Virginia. Supported by the Appalachian Regional Commission Power Grant, WVCC works through a consortium led by Fairmont State University in partnership with Glenville State University, K-12 educators, industry leaders, and the Preston and Barbour County economic development agencies, officials said.
Robbie Baylor, executive director for the Preston County Economic Development Authority, said the region has a definite need for a skilled workforce.
