Through AMLER Grant, Preston County’s Past Becomes Part of the Future

    July 21, 2025

The TAZ Sawmill in Preston County is getting a new lease on life thanks to a $4 million WVDEP AMLER Grant-funded redevelopment project. Preston County has strong roots in the coal and timber industries. But times change, and sites like the once-thriving TAZ Sawmill near Bruceton Mills have long been inactive. Soon, the TAZ Sawmill site will be bustling once again.

AMLER Grant: Breathing new life into the TAZ Sawmill site

The TAZ Sawmill previously was a significant economic contributor in Preston County. Redevelopment spurred by an AMLER Grant seeks to make the 43-acre site part of the local economic footprint again, facilitating new business growth in the region.

Contact PCEDA for more information on how the AMLER Grant is paving the way for future business opportunities in Preston County.
