    Restaurant Road Trip: Portland Coffee

    August 13, 2025

Through the winding hills of Caddell Mountain, nestled in the center of Terra Alta, is Portland Coffee—the town’s lone coffee shop, and everywhere you look inside, you’re reminded of the town’s rich history.

The name dates back to the 1800s, when Terra Alta was originally known as Portland before being renamed. Whether you’re stopping in for some baked goods, a little pick-me-up or just to hang out, Portland Coffee has it all.

“The menu is ever-growing. All of our baked goods are sourced from local bakers, so from Kingwood to Bruceton, we have bakers all around that bake for us,” Barista Manager Bryson Dixon said. “We do a lot of our more savory options in-house, like the pepperoni rolls, the bagels, the sausage gravy and biscuits and then the sweets are outsourced to other bakers that are local.”
