West Virginia Gov. Patrick Morrisey recently celebrated federal approval of the state’s Broadband Equity, Access and Deployment (BEAD) Program application, a milestone he called one of the largest economic development initiatives in state history.
The approved plan includes $546 million to fund 142 deployment projects, connecting more than 73,000 unserved and underserved locations across West Virginia. Additional federal funding tied to non-deployable broadband assets will be determined later under a separate federal rule, which Morrisey said his administration plans to pursue aggressively.
